According to the International
Coaching Federation, Coaching is a partnering with clients
in a thought provoking and creative process that inspires them
to maximize their personal and professional potential.
The coaching
process is initiated when a coach establishes a working relationship
with an executive providing insight, feedback and guidance, almost
akin to a partner in the enterprise, but one who retains a uniquely
objective outlook, which enables the executive to position himself/herself
most effectively in defining, pursuing and achieving his/her
professional goals.
The coaching process creates a synergism that is unfailingly energizing.
It has been known to facilitate:
- Discovery of new pathways in business planning
- Identification and clearance of the most subtle obstacles impeding
goal achievement
- Achievement of remarkable gains in the focusing of time and
effort
- Development of individual inspiration leading to increased professional
and personal growth
In addition to the transformations that can be realized in the professional
arena, there is an aspect of coaching that has successfully worked
under institutional frameworks. Coaching achievements here are related
to the ferreting out, identification and unblocking of barriers
that are often deeply hidden and which work to the detriment of
organizational efficiency. Solutions sometimes involve only small
changes in organizational structure or procedural protocol. Solutions
may also involve changes in management style and communication,
or examining and altering business operations to take advantage
of untapped or unrealized opportunities. Whatever the issues may
be, an experienced executive coach helps identify underlying impediments
and enables your organization or business run more smoothly and
efficiently, resulting in reduced stress for management and employees,
and increased productivity.
Coaching may be accomplished by e-mail, telephone, or in person.
Clients may choose to work with a coach on an individual basis or
as part of a group. The coaching relationship remains one of trust
and integrity, with mutual identification of the shifting needs
for the desired intensity and focus.
